Moses baskets?!

Are they a necessity? Been told conflicting opinions! Pram will be in the living room most likely as I do not drive so people are saying not to bother as she can sleep in there? Will have next to me upstairs of course.

We bought one as it's been a god send especially when we've gone to visit friends as we just packed it up and took it with us

If you have the pram downstairs and next to me upstairs then you won’t need a Moses basket. I have a Moses basket bassinet crib for upstairs and will be using the pram like you downstairs. That’s all I will be using for sleep until around 6 months (baby size permitting) x

Luckily our moses basket was a cheap one because it literally never got used. She didn’t sleep in it once! We contact napped every time.

we never really bothered with ours. first baby napped in the pram, second is a contact napper xx

Depends on baby I think, my daughter was a massive contact napper so she never slept in hers. We sold it pretty soon after she was born

I would probably get one second hand and just buy a new mattress if you want to get one, they grow out of them so fast! My friend’s baby was out of hers within a month. They can be convenient for naps downstairs though. I personally never used mine because he never settled being put down, he was a contact napper through and through lol most newborns are unfortunately.

Some prams aren’t approved for unsupervised sleeping. In order to be certified the carrycot needs to be a certain depth and have ventilation/breathability. I’d check that before you decide to use it as a more permanent sleep solution x

We got passed one by a friend, but baby is 10 months tomorrow and it's still on top of the wardrobe where it was put before she was born! Provided your pram is lie flat or is the basinet/carrycot attachment then baby will be fine to sleep in there during the day.

Mine hated his next to me till he was 10 weeks so I was glad I had the Moses x

Maybe just don't get one and you can always get one next day delivery if you wish you had one! Or people are always giving them away / selling them cheaply on Marketplace.

We never bothered with one - used the pram on occasion downstairs but mostly our baby only contact napped for first few months.

I did the pram in the livingroom first time around and hatedddd it so ive opted for a moses basket this time as a bit less bulky and keep the pram in the car x

I didn’t bother getting one, but what I did get was a Moses basket stand so the bassinet of the pushchair could come upstairs next to my bed for overnight (just check the pushchair is overnight sleeping approved, and same dimensions as a Moses basket)

We never got one. Pram was in living room and next to me crib in the bedroom down the hall.

Any sleeping surface specific for baby was a waste of space and money for us with our kids because they would only sleep attached or next to us. So yeah would even bother if I were you.

My mum bought one to keep at her house for us ready for when baby arrives, she swore by them when I was little. Tbh I would wait, if you decide you need one, you can buy it and get next day delivery 🤷‍♀️

I wouldn’t bother with one if I have another, my little one probably slept in it 5 times tops. She didn’t seem to like it and outgrew it very quickly anyway. Id definatly say it isn’t a necessity. Xx
