Massage it and try and pump it out. I've had this happen several times and this is the only way I felt any relief.

oooo i literally just had one 😭 take a hot shower & rub your breasts while you’re in there. then either feed baby from that side while massaging or start pumping!

The recent guidance on clogged ducts have changed from heat and massage to actually ice and ibuprofen because the ducts are swollen. I literally just had one and I rotated between the ice and heat right before I pumped/ had baby nurse it out.

feed baby starting out on that side every time, ice while baby is nursing and ibuprofen

Ice!!!! Don’t listen to anyone that says hot compress and massage. Try ice after feeding!! Trust me.

My daughter only feeds for 5 min so I’m pumping with the ice on and it seems like it’s working ! Does taking a hot shower make it worse ?

Ice and ibuprofen! My midwives told me thats the new protocol. It works for me.

@Ale new research has come out that it’s inflammation not like thick milk or something weird and because heat increases blood flow to an area it can theoretically make it worse yeah. the goal is to decrease inflammation to the point that milk can pass through again. you also shouldn’t overuse that side. so start on that side but don’t like increase sessions a lot or anything like that. i’d say our baby on that side bc baby is more effective at removing milk though as opposed to a pump

THANK YOU ALL ! I notice the inflammation going down !

If you get it again, I'd highly recommend sunflower lecithin! I take 2 a day when I feel a clog starting and it usually goes away the next day

@LeAynne wait how do you know you are getting a clogged duct soon ?
