Filing for disability due to pregnancy

Does anyone know the process of filing for disability due to pregnancy? And if it’s worth it? I’m 12 weeks and it’s been extremely hard for for me to continue working I physically can’t anymore as much as I have been trying to push myself. I work in retail and it’s a very physically demanding job and I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been looking into filing for disability in NYC due to pregnancy but not sure what the process is, if anyone has any experience it would be really helpful thank you 💕💕💕

You need your doctor to clear that you have a condition that warrant’s disability which now for nyc they updated paid family leave to pay you for leaving for appointments etc . Next you let your employer know you will be leaving for maternity leave and they should have paperwork to complete to send back to HR in your job . The rest should be easy to do ..

Thank you love! So should I let my employer know now that I won’t be able to work so they can start looking for someone to hire soon or only once I tell them I will be leaving for maternity leave?

Yea you want to give them at least 30 days respectively to get affairs in order unless it’s dire and you can’t wait it out but if you can’t wait it out it needs to be written by your doctor that your on mandatory bed rest

Thank you for your help I appreciate you 💕🥰
