Scale back on the toys. Toss the ones that can’t be saved and donate the ones that are in decent condition. I come from a huge family and would get tons of toys for birthday and Christmas. My parents wouldn’t let me open them all. In fact they would put some to the side and around Christmas would have me go through the pile of unopened birthday presents (I’m a September baby) and pick a few that we would go donate to a family shelter or Salvation Army.
I feel you! I got rid of a lot of my daughter’s toys😩 it was just getting out of hand and I was tired of cleaning them up.. I have her clean them up but it was so much mess and chaos that she couldn’t even focus long enough to finish cleaning, so there was lot of me constantly having to tell her to finish cleaning lol and I just don’t have the energy for that everyday… so them toys went bye bye as soon as she left to her granny’s house 😂 she doesn’t even realize they’re gone
First you need some sort of storage, I have an 8 cube Kallax from Ikea, they come in 9 cube and 16cube as well, get a bookcase or cubes, get boxes for some of them and organise that shelf then whatever doesn’t fit donate or do a rotation.
@Kellie I have a four cube shelf with two baskets in the bottom part. I had a bunch of toys in containers to rotate in her closet and in early January my husbands friends kids dumped them all out and trashed her room. I’ve been trying to catch up but I’m just drowning right now.
I get it. 4 cube is tiny hun that’s nowhere near big enough to fit their toys you’ll need something a lot bigger, unfortunately.
@Kellie I don’t have any room in my house for a bigger shelf. I dream of having a nice playroom and big enough bedrooms 😭
I find rotating toys is amazing for my daughter and my home. She goes a month without seeing a toy and seeing it again it’s like brand new. Also means less toys all over the place.
I voted “fuck them kids” only cause I get the reference 🤣 Unless it’s not a reference to what I’m thinking and you actually mean it in which case…I take it back 😳
How long does it take you to clean up the toys? We end each day by playing a song and cleaning - it’s all clean by the end of the song. If it takes you longer than a song to clean up the toys, you need to either simplify your storage or get rid of some of the toys. Kids do need some toys - but it doesnt need to take over your house.
@Dani Marie just a reference because I’m frustrated lol. Kids are kids lol!
@Rebecca right now. They aren’t getting cleaned. But it’s just a bunch of toys. So it’s a box of jumbo legos, a tea set with a million pieces, magnatiles, little people farm, and a hundred random toys that always creep their way out.
Get her to tidy her toys when finished Have one big toy box in her room (or wherever) that has all her toys in then just take a basket with a collection of those toys to put in the living room. So yeah just rotate them once in a while. She's probably overwhelmed by the amount of toys so not engaging with them.
Have her pick them up when she’s done!
