Tantrums

Hi all, was wondering if anyone else's child has tantrums numerous times throughout the day for up to 30 minutes at a time? I just feel like it's only my daughter. My son (now 11) had horrendous tantrums also and now my daughter's temper is taking me right back there. Anywhere we go, she has a meltdown (usually because I won't let her run off) and people staring and me not being able to do what I need to is making me want to just stay indoors with her. The stress is affecting my marriage and just can't see it getting better. I don't have any mum of 2 year old friends so can't talk to anyone about it but just feeling isolated and fed up, what am I doing so wrong?

Some days we’ll have a few tantrums and some days it will literally be one after the other after the other !

Like Natalie, my little boy can have a day where he only has one or 2 but other days he’s has loads. They can last anything between a couple of minutes to 20 mins is the longest we’ve had. My boy still has a bottle which is his comfort (he doesn’t have a dummy) so if he does have a massive tantrum I put juice in his bottle and it usually calms him down. Please don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. This is what kids their age do and it’s normal. If my boy has a tantrum I usually just leave him to it and then when he calms down I speak to him about what happened. Or if it’s a long tantrum I give him a juice to try and calm him down. I always give him a cuddle after and that makes us both feel better.

@Chloé Collier thank you, sometimes I feel like it's only my daughter. Doesn't help that I have 3 stepchildren and my husband tells me all the time that none of them had a single tantrum (I think he can't remember tbh) I do try and calm Bella down and give her a cuddle but sometimes, she's so worked up, I just have to let her wear herself out. She also doesn't have tantrums at the childminders

My son has started to have them a lot more the last week or so. Throwing himself around on the floor anytime he doesn’t get his anyway 😩 it’s impossible to calm him sometimes!

Honestly your not alone my boy is exactly the same it’s like he changed over night he was poorly last week and that’s when it started and hasn’t stopped! Everything is a kick of with him some days we have good days and it’s 1 or 2 and other days it can be relentless! I no how you feel when you feel like your child is the only one but honestly they aren’t. Please don’t take any notice of people when you are out I used to get so embaressed but now I just leave him to it he will always come running after me if I see someone really staring or shaking their head I always make a cocky comment and say have you never seen a toddler tantrum before but that’s me I can’t help myself😂🤷🏽‍♀️x

Girllllll, my daughter’s tantrums are like my tantrums - HORRENDOUS!! inbox me, let’s laugh about it over wine!! 😂

Yess but always for me and not for dad and the nanas. Apparently it’s normal with the main care giver 🙈 xxx
