Self settle trouble

I think my son is learning to self settle but eventually, after thrashing for what feels like forever, he starts to cry so I give him a dummy or if that doesn't work, give him a cuddle (he then tends to fall asleep) and pop him back. I can't sleep while he self settles so am exhausted. Is there anything I can do to help him ease into self settling?

Wine found a bit of gripe water on his dummy helps! It’s soothing and tasty and makes him suck his dummy longer, he then eventually drifts off But I think he may be addicted 😂 so idk they say pick your battles haha xx

@Kelly how do you give the gripe water?

@Millie We used to put a cap of gripe water in our little one’s milk and that’d work or we’d put the recommended drops of infacol in the milk to make him less gassy and that helped him settle

@Millie we put the dummy on top of the gripe water and just dip it ☺️ xx

Will usually do it a couple times. when he spits the dummy out, I’ll dip it again and so on x
