For me I’m thinking back to books that I remember being read to as a child, I think at that age it’s not really about the book that’s being read, but that quiet, bonding time and little one hearing your voice. Ones I remember are Guess how much I love you Can’t you sleep little bear The large family Beatrix potter

Haven't had my baby yet but we've gone for a mix of fun books and sentimental books. So some of the 'that's not my...' books as these seem to be a huge hit and have sensory bits in for getting baby involved that's the more fun books. And then sentimental wise I kept my guess how much I love you book that I had as a child, and we've bought I love you to the moon and back and on the night you were born. Mostly gone for board style books so baby can play with them without tearing pages etc

We have a large collection of board books plus frequent trips to the bookstore. My baby gets very excited about short counting books. Specifically a 1 2 3 halloween book. She also likes big pictures. My son preferred books with more words on each page.

at 3-6 months my baby (and babies in general!) mostly enjoyed the aspect of listening to my voice and having a cuddle. so it’s a good opportunity to go for the slightly longer picture books with more words! closer to age 1 they get more curious themselves pulling books from a shelf and turning pages/flaps themselves and are less interested in longer books! i read oliver jeffers’ how to catch a star , the other day that would suit well i think!!

pop along to story and rhyme time at the library too if you can as there are always good demonstrations of stories that are great to read aloud
