High risk appointment

Has anyone had a high risk pregnancy? I’ve got my first appointment Friday and not sure what to expect? It’s due to a previous c section I believe x

Mine was high risk and all my appointments were the same as a low risk, just extra scans and a few extra consultations

I'm high risk pregnancy and all appointments are the same, I have extra scans to make sure everything is OK and extra care

Ahh thank you I’ve got one at the hospital on Friday not with my normal midwife so I’m guessing it might be a scan x

Yes it will be just a scan you don't actually see your midwife until at least 14weeks. I had a scan at 11 weeks I'm not 13 weeks and see my midwife for the 1st time next week

If it was a scan the appointment would state growth scan etc. Most likely it’s an appointment to discuss risk and birth options for example if you want an elective section or a vbac.

@Nilz it was the same for me. Extra visits and many ultrasounds.

I was high risk due to me having an autoimmune disease. Though it doesn’t affect pregnancy i just tend to flare up more. But the appointments are the same they just monitor to you even more closely. And your appointments may increase depending on your situation. I have Gi issues so I was back and forth between my OB and GI doctor

I guess it depends on the factor that makes it higher risk. Like I had gestational diabetes so extra scans and a few appt with consultants. I guess something like preeclampsia would need a lot more monitoring and appts?! Idk x

@Nilz same!

Yeah I'm a HRP because of my age 😆 They just want to do an ultrasound and look at your insides to make sure everything is okay due to your last c section. It's just a monitoring thing ❤️ no need to worry

I'm high risk now I'm seen twice a week for Ultrasounds and meet with the doctor right after to discuss the US, I have an acardiac second twin so I’ve had to meet with different specialists as well but all were normal doctor appointments

I personally prefer the high risk appts to the normal ones. You get more ultrasounds and they give you any extra help you may need.

@Brianna very true!

My last pregnancy was a high risk pregnancy due to my son having Down syndrome and a heart defect. I saw my OBGYN on a typical pregnancy schedule, had ultrasound sounds every three weeks at a prenatal office, saw one of their doctors once a month, their NP once a month, and a few appointments with specialists. The last 8 ish weeks I had weekly ultrasounds

My 3rd pregnancy I was high risk. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Extra ultrasounds, to monitor the baby's growth. He was a big boy. Also had to prick my finger after every meal.
