Sleeping

How much sleep should my 5 week old be getting? I’d say he’s probably getting 10 hours a day if that. He only falls asleep being cuddled and my back is in pieces. If I put him down he stirs then cries. I think he’s in pain as can hear his tummy rumble. He doesn’t have a poo easily as always quite hard but goes twice a day which I’ve been told is fine. We have tried swaddling but he kicks out of it

Have you tried the love to dream swaddles? My little girl hates sleeping anywhere other than on me, it did take a few tries but now shes happy to go into her swaddle at night time and will go into her cot although i have to get her out sometimes to resettle her but shes getting there and in slowly letting me just stroke her head or pat her belly gently whilst in there now. Although for some reason her day naps shes now only gone back to sleeping on me whereas she used to be happy with me putting her in her bouncer but thats something i can cope with😄

I have a 4 wk old boy that’s the same! Only wants to sleep being held, wasn’t a fan of a swaddle either. @jasmine good you mention the love to dream swaddles as one arrived in the post today! Look forward to trying that. I did make a bit of progress last night and got two hours of him asleep in his next to me, by rolling up a blanket and I use this so he feels like he’s being hugged, not sure that is advisable but it’s the first thing I’ve tried that worked for him, he also napped for an hour today in same position.

No I haven’t heard of the love to dream swaddles but I will definitely be trying it. Thank you x

My little boy is sleep allergic too, much like his sister was too! I just keep trying to resettle him or take him out for a walk to get him to nap, it's so hard isn't it!
