RSV VACCINE

Has anyone had the RSV Vaccine they are now recommending to have at 28 weeks of pregnancy. I never had this with my first, however have been told to get it with my second. I have done my research and pretty knowledge on it, but still quite nervous with how new the vaccine is and how I didn't have it first time round.

Yep take whatever they offer. Better than the illness

Yes, I had it at 29w and no issues. It's not a new vaccine, they just started offering it through the NHS for pregnant women, but it's been out for years.

I had it at 34 weeks. Felt a bit more fatigued and slightly feverish the following day, and that was it.

I ended up having it a bit later in my pregnancy, my arm was a bit sore for a couple days but then it went away - the whooping cough vaccine was worse to recover from for me!

Had mine today, my arm is absolutely fine. Decided that it's better than risking RSV with the baby x

I had mine today but a couple of my friends have had it recently and they have said it didn't cause any problems and prevents baby. My sister in law didn't have it an nephew got rsv at 5 months old really bad he was in hospital.

I had mine a couple of weeks ago. No side effects. I've had it because I've heard how dangerous it is to newborns and it's been shown in research that even though it doesn't stop babies getting it, it reduces severity and hospital admissions. I didn't have it with my first but would have if it had been around as she was a November baby. Because I have a toddler who brings everything back from nursery it is why I chose to get it x

I had mine a few weeks ago. No side effects besides a sore arm. As with all medication, there is some risk involved but, for me, the benefits outweigh the risk. Maybe have a chat with your midwife/GP if you're feeling anxious, they should be able to give you a clearer picture of what the risks are to help you make a more informed decision

I’ve had it 2 weeks ago, it was fine no issues, but it’s not an active injection which means you shouldn’t really get poorly after. I’ve done it for my little girl not for me x

Had mine today. I'm in the UK but apparently they've been giving it to pregnant ladies in other countries for a very long time.

Yes, I had it at 28 weeks. My LO got bronchiolitis at 5 weeks and the Doctor in A&E said it would have been much worse had I not had the vaccine. I am so glad I did have it as it was horrible hearing my daughter sound so bad and very little they can do and to think that was a mild case!

Just came back from my midwife and i did ask her she said its not mandatory, its like flu vaccine If u feel like getting it u get it otherwise its all okay not to have it even.. bcz they just recommending you

@Emma of course, I totally understand the toddler bringing home everything from nursery, I can definitely relate. Thank you so much. I was just genuinely curious about those that have had it. X

@Ramsha yeah I get that it's a vaccine they're recommending . Thank you

@Sally ahhh interesting!! I'm still doing my research, but good to know. Thank you x

I believe it was only rolled out to pregnant women last September - I haven’t been offered it before either. Personally I’ll be getting it, anything to protect me and my babies x

I have, was tired and feverish the next two days
