My sons been potty trained for over two years but still wears pull ups at night x
My niece has been potty trained since 2.5, she’s now 5 and still wears pull ups at night. I wouldn’t stress x
He refuses to wear nappies or pull ups at night. But also can't wake himself 🤦♀️. Can't help but stress
We did day first and after about a month did nights. But that was led more by daughter than us, she didn’t want to wear one at night anymore rather than us trying to get her out of it…
@Suzie Rebrand the pull ups as special night time underwear. Let him pick a fun character so he'll wear them
We'll get there. Just Interested in other people's experiences as friends who did it together seemed to have cracked it at the same time
My daughter I trained In the day and put a nappy on for night time but she never wet her nappy during the night she kinda just stayed dry so I stopped with the night nappies and she never once wet the bet. It was nothing that I done, she just done it herself. I’m going to training my son soon and I’m hoping for the same outcome,
Wish there was a results button...
Try and avoid milk and blackcurrant before bed. Increase fluids during the day. Go for a sleep wee before bed. This was the advice I got from the enuresis clinic as my son was secondary incontinent. Being dry at night is completely different to during the day although it didn’t take long for both mine to get there.
@Dianna option 1- 0% option 2- 9% Option 3 - 32% Option 4 - 59%
As mentioned above you can’t train for overnight, it’s to do with hormones. You’ll have to be firmer with making him wear the nappy or pull up overnight to avoid the wet bed.
My eldest was potty trained jusy after she turned 1 year, shes nearly 6 and has been dry nighttimes for the past 9months. My youngest is 3 and still has little Accidents during the day, still very wet at night
@Dianna I've not done a poll before. Didn't realise I would need one. Can't even see the results myself 🤦♀️. So sorry everyone! And thanks for the advice
Its hormones not something you train. It'll come.

You could try waking him to pee if he would go back to sleep well, but otherwise it’s hormonal and not really under their control. So pull-ups or maybe a liner in the underwear or training underwear if he doesn’t pee too much. Limit liquids near bedtime?
@Kirstie thank you!
@Suzie it's OK! It's a good question so i was curious as to what the answer was
I don't think you can do both at once as night time is a developmental thing rather than a training thing.
My son pretty much trained himself at night. Took him for a wee before bed and first thing in morning and he kept waking up with dry nappies
My daughter stopped peeing in the night before we even thought about potty training at all!!! We didn’t do a thing, it’s just a natural switch that flicks. We were very lucky to be honest. Although potty training for day time took forever 😅 If they don’t like pull ups maybe pop them in training pants at night? It won’t stop the pee all together but it certainly holds in more than normal pants would.
I waited for my son to be dry at night for a solid 3 weeks, trying no diaper at night and, so far, he's doing great
My daughter has been dry in the day since 2. She is now nearly 5 & still wears a pull up at night because she isn’t dry.
When we day potty trained my son at 2, after a few months he then was waking really early hours needing a wee (even though he had a pull up on) and then not go back to sleep so for that reason i woke him up at midnight for a quick wee (i worked evenings and finished at midnight so didn’t make a difference to me) After a few months we stopped waking him in the night. He’s wet the bed once in over a year and that was when we went on holiday for the first time. We limited fluids 2hrs before bedtime also to help.
Please don’t worry! You can’t ‘train’ nighttime! It’s all to do with a hormone that children develop to enable them to wake to wee or stay dry. Nothing to do with them learning x
