Carobel

Does anyone use carobel for normal formula, not prescription? My baby was having comfort milk for a while which is thicker than normal formula, but now we have swapped back to normal, he is really struggling to finish a bottle and also gets the hiccups after every single feed. We do the usual paced feeding, stopping to burp etc etc, but I can only think that he’s maybe got used to the thicker consistency as the comfort milk is made for reflux/colic and that’s why he keeps getting the hiccups? Any help would be great!

Yes we're on Carobel with normal formula

@Gemma have you found it helped your baby’s symptoms?

We do but it’s on prescription

How do you find it? Do you think there are side effects? My HV suggested it might be worth trying but I don’t know lots about it’

@Scarlet 🤍 it’s helped my little girl but I do plan on weaning her off it when she’s a bit bigger. She gets full quicker too.

Okay this is good to know! I’m just struggling so much with the hiccups which I assume is reflux so need another option of something!

@Scarlet 🤍 that’s sounds like taking in too much Air? Maybe think about changing bottles first. We changed from mam to narrow dr brown and has helped hiccups x

@Scarlet 🤍 we are still on the trial and error stage the sickness has reduced but still a bit so going to try and up the carobel amount. It is very trial and error!

@Hannah I’m almost 100% certain it’s the consistency of the formula. He was on comfort formula for a while which is much thicker as it had the carob in it and didn’t have them once, and now we’ve moved back to normal formula he gets the hiccups after every single feed! I think he’s just got used to it being thicker now 😩
