Help! How do you get your toddler to drink water!!??

Hey everyone I’m struggling to get my 22 month old to drink water. She still has some breastmilk in the day, cows milk and she will occasionally have a little bit of water here and there. I’m currently weaning her off the boob but worrying that she isn’t hydrated enough. I guess it’s a process. We’ve tried different bottles/cups, fruit in the water, offering it to her all the time, leading by example. She refuses it most of the time and it’s just getting to me. Any advice would be very much appreciated thank you.

I’m currently in this situation! My LO has only recently self night weaned and so I stopped feeding to sleep with boob and found he wouldn’t drink any water at all for weeks. He was still hydrated because he drank a lot of soya milk (dairy allergy) instead to the point where he was hardly eating so this week we did one day of filling his straw bottle with a quarter water and three quarters milk and he was absolutely fine! So we’ve upped it to 50/50 and it’s as if he prefers it! Will give it a week before diluting more until he is on just water and then maybe just reintroduce one bottle of milk a day so he has both 🤞🏼 Not sure if this is good advice but since doing it he’s been eating better again too!

@Ceylan hi thanks for sharing sorry you’ve been going through it too. Glad to hear your method is working though. We havnt tried half water half milk yet so we will give that a try next. Thank you 🙏

My daughter does eat a lot of fruit so that’s at least keeping her hydrated thankfully. It would just be nice to see her drink water to put my mind at rest

Yes same actually! I think once I master the water I’m going to have to move onto tackling vegetables 🙈☺️ Good luck and hope you find some other tips here too!!

I struggle to get my lo to drink water I even do diluted juice now, I often switch up the cups which helps but then she’ll demand the old one 🤣 sometimes she’ll drink if it’s out my glass with a straw (I will do anything to get her to as if she doesn’t she ends up constipated)

If they are old enough, try sippy cups with straws. That’s helped us. You could also add in just a touch of something sweet to it to entice them to get started

Mine plays in the sink with the cold tap running while I shower and I give her a cup and she honestly downs sooo much water 😂 worth a try?

Maybe give her boiled water that's still warm? It will be comforting like milk. Maybe give her water with a bit of milk. Maybe do it in the milk bottle. Get a matching straw bottle to her and let her see you drinking water from the see through bottle. My son is obsessed with drinking water. His water cup is almost like a comfort blanket to him. I have always reminded him throughout the day he has water and always keep it on his table in the same place so he knows where to get it. Sorry I'm tired and probably rambling sorry
