Eating/salivation

Anyone with a child that has difficulty with eating, drinking, and excessive salivation? I'm not sure what to use to keep my son clean and dry when we are eating out somewhere. He's getting too old for plastic bibs. I was looking at absorbant tabards, not sure how well they would work

My daughter has this issue and I have to actually pack about 20/30 bibs to go out and I put 2 on at a time and then keep changing. Also don't know what else to do

@Kirsty thank you so much for replying. I've not spoke to or met anyone else in this situation, it can feel quite isolating! We're the same, I have to take a huge bag of bibs whenever we go anywhere. We're actually thinking of starting him on hyoscine patches to stop some of the saliva but I'm a bit torn on that decision

My daughter has seen the speech and language therapist and they said to only they smooth foods but she isn't managing them at all

I have not heard of hyoscine so not sure what that is. My daughter isn't diagnosed with cerebal palsy but has lots of signs as far as I have been told

It's the patches used for travel sickness but they can be used to reduce secretions. I've heard other children asking why he "spits" 😢 they're just kids but I hate the thought of him getting self conscious or picked on as he gets older. How old is your daughter?

She's only young 8 and a half months x

Yeah I know what you mean but unfortunately if it's not that it's something else as some kids can be nasty to each other no matter what

Aw yeah that is young, wee soul, have they spoken about assessing for cerebral palsy? My son is coming up for 4

They are doing an MRI in the next few weeks they said

That's good, that will help you get answers and some help
