Sand pit / paddling pool advice please!

Last year I was given a sand/water table which seemed great as my LO could play without being actually in the water/sand so therefore a little easier to clean him up BUT the table gets mouldy, he mixes the sand and water together and then you cant drain the water properly without losing all the sand so it goes mouldy. What's the alternative? Have you found anything that's easier to keep clean? Am I best with separate tables so I can tip one out and not the other? Or an actual sand pit to climb in and separate the padding pool? Feel free to share any links to products you recommend! TIA

We have this one, they also sell it on Amazon. It’s been out all winter and on warmer days he’d go out and play in it even during winter months, we’d just pour warm water in it. Can do water in one half and sand in the other. Easy to clean and easy to empty, there are little plugs on each half x https://home.bargains/product/52d23e70-50d9-4d07-98ab-e3d8739852aa/dolu-water-and-sand-activity-table

We have the same one as @Irita . We use water only in the summer and then sand only in the winter. We throw some plastic sheeting over it when not using it to keep water out but no problems so far.

@Sophie maybe this is where I've gone wrong, I've done half and half... He's clogged the plug with sand so the water doesn't drain properly and tipping it would lose all the sand. The drain isn't just a hole with a plug so I can't unclog it either. I was thinking maybe an actual sandpit would be better but I hate the idea of sand in shoes and nappies etc 😂

Sooo if you put Milton in the water side. Should prevent mould. If ours goes yucky. I just clean it out and start again. However, I now have 2 separate tables , 1 for water and 1 for sand to try to avoid cross “contamination” 😂

@Gilly do you leave the Milton in while they play? Or just for cleaning beforehand? Which separate tables did you go for?

Not for cleaning. Leave it in the water . Same with paddling pools if you don’t want to empty it every day in the summer !
