We started at 14 months putting him on the toilet every morning when he first wakes up, he took to it the first day and he’s been weeing first thing on the toilet just about every morning since then, he’s telling me when he’s doing wees now we just need to ramp it up to the next stage really. But we let him watch us on the toilet, I talk to him about it often that we’ll get rid of the nappies and he’ll do all his wees and poos on the toilet like a big boy soon. I plan to have 3 days in a row with no nappies and put him on the potty or toilet every 40 mins or so! Lots of rewards and over the top praise when they do go. And keep them distracted sat on the toilet for a while with toys or books or random objects! Good luck xx
My girl pulls at her nappy on the odd occasion when she has wee'd or poo and yesterday she pulled at nappy and pointed to the toilet and sat on it so I bought her a potty today just to get used to x
Day 1 of bottomless of the tiny potty method today. (Andrea Olsen adapted oh crap for 18 mo as oh crap is for 20mo+) Not much different as he's been out of nappies at home and using potty even at train station, children centre, swimming pool for a couple months now but that was elimination communication (started potty sit after meal at 12 mo and also after wake ups at 13mo( and you can't do elimination communication after 18 mo. So far I'm less stressed haha but he didn't do his usual morning poo on the potty yet so he has to get used to that he has to realise he needs to go rather than me taking him based on his bodh language. He has often realised he needed to before and given me a signal or sat himself so hopefully he can do it more consistently so nursery can also potty him. His dad just takes him hourly ans he eventually worked out to hold it until he's taken by dad. He's a real camel. Been dry for nap time since before his birthday and can hold for hours though we try to get him to go hourly
Possibly may start properly in the summer dependent on my little girls speech and awareness! We sit on the potty sometimes and sometimes she’ll take herself off to it and sit on it fully clothed. We’ve had 2 wees on it in the time we’ve had the potty lying around (so probably about 3 months) and sometimes she will sit on the small child toilets at nursery with an adult but it’s not being pushed. I think it’s more important for her to be vocalise and understand about it before doing it, she has started saying poo poo when she’s gone and patting her bum so she knows that, but wees are a minefield!🤣 x
We’ve started putting him on the potty before bath time to get used to it in hopes he will do a wee and then we’re be super excited. When summer hits we’re do slot more as will be easier to be nappy free
With our eldest we used the Oh Crap! book and method. He was basically naked from the waist down for a long weekend. We used a waterproof dog blanket on the sofa for him to sit on. Worked super well as it's still soft and easy to clean. Not planning to potty train until closer to three though tbh.
