pineapple allergy? (poll)

my 7.5 month old tried pineapple yesterday and about 5-10 mins after had a rash over his face that disappeared within an hour, but i’m not sure if it’s just because pineapple is quite acidic. should i try him with pineapple again?

It definitely could be a contact rash- my doctor suggested putting Aquaphor or Vaseline right before you feed fruit as a barrier

Foods like pineapple, strawberry, tomato and aubergine can cause contact rash

Contact rash my boy was the same after that and nectarine

Potentially a contact rash. But it might just be because it's a new food

I’m allergic to pineapple so could be allergy x

@Drei are you allergic to red meats too?

@Ebony no

@Drei I only ask as pineapple and red meat have the same enzyme in them which is often what the allergy is too. I knew someone at school who was allergic to pineapple and red meat

@Ebony no I know 😁💛

@Drei funny how allergies work! I developed one to kiwi during my pregnancy. Kiwi and pineapple are the same family but I'm fine with pineapple just not kiwi

Pineapple has bromelain which can cause irritation as it's a "protein digesting" enzyme - would say try it again and wipe face after ideally with just warm water 😊

thanks so much everyone!!
