Hey! Just wanted to comment and say that I have only just had my 12 week scan today and just before my scan I received an appointment for the first week of April for an obstetrics appointment. The appointment came through before my scan even happened so I wouldn’t think it’s due to anything wrong with the scan. I was also told my scan was completely normal. Do you know if you are consultant led? X
I have an appointment for July because my blood type is negative so I might need injections to make sure I don't develop antibodies that might harm the baby but you can't get it til later on. Could it be that? My appointment says antenatal though not obstetrics so might not be related!
There are quite a few reasons it could be but could also just be a mistake. This is my second baby, with my first I had a scan around 30 weeks because of my BMI and they found issues with her growth. This pregnancy I have been booked a scan at that time because my PAPP-A is low so I’m high risk for having another small baby. But I would have been offered one again anyway because of my BMI. You’re best off asking your midwife x
@Robyn ah this is really interesting! Thank you! I’m not sure if I’m consultant led x
@Sorcha my blood type is positive so probably not related to that but thank you x
@Kayleigh mmm yes I did think about the BMI! Will ask the midwife in my next appointment, thank you x
Have you had a booking in appointment- it may be that an answer about yourself led to this being referred up. Eg, a history of high blood pressure, endometriosis, etc etc. I am on my second pregnancy and was told that due to having a post partum haemorrhage I would see an obstetrician at some point in the pregnancy.
