Need advise

I work in healthcare and currently on flexible working due to childcare and my husband shift pattern . However we have away day / get together event which falls on the day I don’t work . My manager has messaged me that it is mandatory to attend and I can’t miss it . The event is 9 to 5 pm and husband leaves home to work at 5:30pm , I have a toddler who I can’t take with me to work place or hospital event . What do I do ?

What time does he leave for work? Can you leave a few minutes early or he go in a few minutes late

If you cant leave early then The fact that you don’t work that day, its your day despite the event being mandatory sometimes l feel we just put up with these things at the expense of our families. I would be telling the manager unfortunately l don’t work that day and l have no child care available & l can not make it period
