Considering an elective c section/ need opinions
I can’t believe I’m honestly saying that but I have my reasons: 1). my first was an enormous baby requiring suction, if that failed it would have been a c section. After the epidural slowed my labor down it eventually just didn’t work. 2). I’m not interested in making birth a magical experience for myself and I want to interact with people about it as little as possible. I want to be in and out. 3). I’ve considered that I might rather have pelvic pain than vaginal pain for a while.
I know about the cascade of interventions and I totally believe it. But can anyone tell me the pros and cons, your opinion about it? Don’t worry about scaring me or hurting my feelings.
I would say, you would definitely have to consider the risks for both vaginal and cesarean. Are you planning to have more kids, if yea would it be repeat cesarean or VBAC? Knowing the risks for both is good to do. Birthing a big baby vaginally can be done without complications but you’d have to learn how to do: not push on your back, get a walking epidural, use different positions and techniques which can be learned. Consider the recovery of a cesarean. Planned cesarean have a better recovery than emergency because your body doesn’t through the work and exhaustion of labor. However the consequences long term should only be considered for both you and your baby. Planned cesareans are usually done at 39weeks so if you go into labor before than, that’s also another thing to consider. You can def have a birth plan with a cesarean, especially planned. I would look into a “gentle cesarean”. Learn about the warning signs postpartum for recovery
