I looked into it for my dog but haven't done it yet. You need evidence of diagnosis and any paperwork you have surrounding your care with this condition strengths your case massively. I'm sure your GP can give you more info and potentially either refer you to an OT for more help or write you a letter supporting this
Just be aware that in the UK emotional support dogs are not given the same right as assistance dogs.
My mum has an emotional support cat. Cost her £50 to officially register Marvel. Marvel used to be my cat, but living in a flat, it wasn't fair on her, so she's now my mums cat. X
Thankyou, I appreciate your comments! I wasn’t aware there would be a charge so that won’t be a shock to the system now if that’s what my GP asks for this morning😂 @Deb was Marvel registered by a GP/NHS or a private company?x
@Becky I’m fully aware and know the difference, thankyou☺️ The only assistance my dog wants to give me is helping me finish a sausage roll😂x
I will ask my mum today as she's actually coming to see me, I only see her once or twice a year as she lives 4 hours' drive from me, but I remember her saying she had to register Marvel online. X
Yes we have one, it was for my son who has autism. We had to supply the documents of his diagnosis to our local council and GP. We didn’t really ask the GP for it we insisted we needed it in order to move home so that the council would have no choice but to support us. There is a charge from memory. If you have supporting documents then I don’t think they can refuse you.
