Breast fed baby - self soothing

My LO is 11 weeks and the last few days has constantly been at the breast to just settle himself, day and night. He hates a dummy and I’ve tried patting and rocking him but after 20 odd minutes of trying just give up and offer the breast, instantly settles. I’m getting super tired and now worried that he won’t ever be able to self soothe. Not sure what the point in this post is, just need to vent.

Same here! Only started this week, don't get me wrong she's always used the breast for comfort but this week refuses to nap without it. I've tried a dummy too and she immediately gags and spits it out. I'm really hoping it's a phase. No help but I'm right there with you, she's 12 weeks x

Could have wrote this myself! Also have an 11 week old boy who will only settle to sleep on the boob. Im worried my partner will never be able to do it and i’ll be trapped forever 😂 we’re working on him taking a bottle but he’s not a fan and also hates a dummy too 🥲

This sounds dramatic but the tommee tippee stay put dummies have changed my life. One of my twins sleeps quite well, can put her down awake etc and the other is feed to sleep, needs to be held, snack feeding every 2ish hours day and night and gagging on/spitting out dummies. He takes this dummy and is now sleeping 5/6 hour stretches, I can put him down awake with the dummy and he’s feeding every 3 hours. That being said, mine are 14 weeks and this transformation has been the last week where there has been a noticeable difference in them falling into a better routine naturally, hang in there, it’s all just a phase

I've been told to put them down tired but not asleep in the daytime so they can learn to self soothe. Easier said than done. My girl will chew on her hand but it seems to keep her awake rather than help her sleep... Does keep her fairly calm though. She also hates a dummy! She's 11 weeks on Monday.

@Alice that sounds exactly like my boy! Always snack feeding and gags on a dummy!! Have ordered the stay out dummy on Amazon so we’ll see if that helps! Thanks 😊
