Has anyone had nursery bring in an early year specialist teacher?

My little one is displaying challenging behaviour at nursery where he can bite and pinch seemingly unprovoked (as explained by nursery staff). They have said they have not found a trigger despite observing. He does not display this behaviour at home. We have now got an Email where they said they have had complaints from other parents (and I feel absolutely awful and stressed about this and really wish I could do something to help with his behaviour at nursery...), but they have now asked to bring in an early year specialist teacher. This worries me as I am not sure what it would involve. I feel that as he is so young he does not understand cause and effect yet and there may be so many reasons he is doing what we are doing without an obvious reason (attention, teething, sensory etc..). I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar?

I haven’t but just wanted to send you a big hug! That does sound awfully stressful for you. I’m quite sure the nursery are just trying to do the absolute best by your son and also the other children, so it sounds like a positive step to me. Hope it all goes well xx

I think nursery can be a stressful environment for babies, and sometimes children can act on impulse, they don't have awareness what they are doing and I think some toddlers can act this way.perhaps your little one is tired, hungry, teething or maybe overstimulated by the environment for example, just getting excited, not knowing how to share, attention, gentle hands etc. There was a YouTube that came up about from diary of a CEO interview about nursery and behaviour links which seemed interesting. I would say don't worry too much children have their phases, they are still young and nursery is challenging in itself for them without their mummy. I hope it goes well.

I think its great that they are going to bring a specialist in. This helps not only your child but others aswell. It sounds like a great nursery. Take all the support you can get x
