Choking on saliva

Baby is almost 4 months and I just heard a noise as she slept and looked into the crib to check on her and she has her eyes wide open and she’s choking, I picked her up and had to turn her over and do back pats. I’m terrified because if I hadn’t heard it or if I’d been asleep she could have choked to death, what am I supposed to do??? Is this normal - what if she couldn’t sort it herself? How can I sleep knowing she could choke like that again

We had this happen when baby was 3 weeks and many times since. In our case she has silence reflux so we do things to manage that and it's just getting better as she gets older. Doctors in a&e said that although it looks like choking it's really a reflex to stop it going down the wrong way, like when we cough on a drink? Didn't find that too reassuring tbh! But apparently they'd always cough it up 🤷🏻‍♀️ we've tilted the crib slightly and also bought a breathing monitor for peace of mind (snuza hero) but haven't really slept much these past few months anyway!
