Equally if at any point you’ve had enough or like me feel it’s heading south you are entitled to a Csection and it’ll be absolutely fine! However praying everything goes smoothly, i’ve seen loads of mummas on here had very smooth inductions where baby was out within 24 hours no reason that can’t be you!
That is really helpful, thank you!
You’re welcome I hope you actually get plenty of positive stories on here soon I know there are lots! 😂
hey lovely wishing you all the best!! i had the pessary and wasn’t dilated at all when they put it in. had the pessary in at 5pm and then started getting contractions in the night. then it all went mega fast in the morning, they checked me and i was fully dilated at half 9 and he arrived at 10. only had gas and air for the pushing aswell x
Please keep us updated on how it goes for you. I need to.make a choice of induction, c section or wait and see and I don't really know what to do - it would be great to hear your experience. Good luck and I hope it goes smoothly for you 💓
I was SO against agreeing to an induction but I saw several posts replying to a lady who, like you, was recommended to have one and I was very surprised at how many very positive experiences people had. Even the births that were a little tricky, or needed to live to c-section, all babies arrived safely and the mummies seemed content with their choices x
I consider my induction to have been a positive experience. My cervix was also completely closed. 24 hours after having the pessary put in I was dilated 3 CMs and so the midwife gave me a sweep. After that my contractions starter to pick up and I lost my mucus plug. I walked lots to get myself in established labour. I gave birth around 40 hours after having the pessary inserted. Hope it all goes well!
I went in for my induction at 38+5 so a bit later than you, by the time I went in I was having very sporadic contractions but nothing I was struggling with at all. Didn't need the pessary as I was 1.5cm already, waited 13 hours on antenatal for a bed on labour, they broke my waters at about 2am, I didn't need the hormone drip as straight away my contractions kicked fully into gear. Had my epidural just before I started pushing at about 5am, baby was born at 6.47 after an episiotomy. The whole thing was super positive, the midwives were incredible as were the drs that did my epidural and my episiotomy!
I was induced at 38+5 and although pessarys didnt do anything, my induction birth was very positive albeit slow! I had an epidural once contractions started (after 2 hormone drips), so cant say what the pain was like vs non-induction but it did go smooth once it started so cant really complain other than it being a slow process xx
I had a good induction experience. I was in for four days before my waters broke. It was painful but was only in labour for 10 hours. It went very fast after my waters broke and I had the hormone drip to bring on contractions.
I was induced to preclampsia. I was diagnosed the day I got induced. Induction started on Sunday morning at 10am and my son was born on Tuesday morning at 10:22. So 48 hours in total. We did the gel. In the first take I went from 0-2cm dilated. And then I spent 30 hours waiting for a space in the Labour ward. That was the only annoying thing. But I was in the anti natal award well looked after. Once there was a bed available I had my waters broken and I went from 2-10cm in a couple of hours and then it was time to push. I had a super positive induction and all was fine with baby boy and myself. Good luck xx
I consider mine relatively positive. I was induced at 38+5 due to GD and pre-eclampsia. The pessary worked relatively well and my water broke naturally after 16 hours. I then had the epidural which slowed the labour but meant that I had no pain. The worst part for me was the period pain like before I ended up in active labour, but I don’t know many people who had that, so might have been a fluke. I had been advised to have the epidural before the oxytocin, but know it slows labour so can mean having the oxytocin when could happen without. Baby was out after 44hours, but it didn’t feel that long and I slept through it at times. I was like you very worried, but it ended up okay. I did take every type of pain relief. Take loads of stuff to watch and just trust your body. Good luck
not a positive one but feel it’s SO important to share! i went in at 38+1, 1cm dilated. I had the 24 “tampon style” pessary which did bring on contractions, after this. i went to labour and delivery, where they tried to break my waters but my cervix was unfavourable and they couldn’t reach a safe spot to do so. my only choice was to have my waters break themselves, so they did the prostin gel, but then realised my cervix is too long (was dilating and softening just not shortening) and he wouldn’t be able to get out anyway… i ended up in emergency section, but the surgery itself was honestly fine! i was glad for him to be here and safe. i know you’re probably wondering why im telling you since you asked for positive stories, but i want you to just be mindful that not everyone’s bodies are favourable for IOL, and to be prepared that some of the procedures within an induction are time restricted and just be prepared that you may not end up with the birth you wanted, but more the birth
2/2 you needed. i went in naive and thought my body is gunna know what to do etc etc, so didn’t think a CS would ever happen which made it quite stressful at the time, so always keep it in mind it may be needed - just so that you remain as calm as possible if that becomes the outcome as i put myself in distress and actually made it 10x worse by not being prepared. i was exhausted after 40 hours in labour, and then stressed on top and if i’d been told “by X time if things aren’t happening, it’s safest we do CS”, i’d of been a lot less frustrated. they said the chance of CS is multiplied by 5 just by stepping into IOL ward because of the time restrictions etc on specific steps, and i wish i was told it BEFORE, not after the fact, so i want to let you know. good luck, wishing a safe delivery for you both! remember - once baby is here, you will be so proud of yourself regardless, and rightly so!🤍xx

How did it go?!
I had the pessary on Saturday but after 24 hours, my cervix was still completely closed. I had a long chat with my midwife and made the decision to go for an elective c-section as my blood pressure just kept going up. My baby Max was born today at 10.56am after what is the most bizzarre and calm process of a csection! He is absolutely perfect and I'm obsessed ❤️
Yesss so glad he got here safely! Welcome to the csection club! Inductions just don’t work for everyone especially when it’s under 40 weeks! Hope you recover soon and enjoy your little boy! 🩵
@Annabel congratulations! Wishing you a speedy recovery xx
Okay so mine wasn’t successful buuuut I was very impatient, 24 hour check I was only 1cm, they were going to put in another but then got too busy, the next day they did a sweep after I complained noone was helping and nothing was happening, then I was 2cm which was enough for them to break my waters for me but then loads of emergencies occurred with others around me, I stopped progressing again, got an infection and opted for a csection rather than the hormone drip as I could see the direction it was heading and it was best to stop the messing around and get baby out. I know you asked for positive stories so I’m only commenting to say try to be patient and take your time with the induction, get as comfy as you can and don’t let them rush anything (I wouldn’t let them break your waters until you are really progressing and contracting because it puts you in a risky situation where you then have limited time till baby has to come out)
