Fussy eating phase

LO is currently going through a fussy eating phase which I know is perfectly normal. What’s best to do in this situation? If he refuses all meals offered and asks for a snack instead should I give him one? Obviously I want him to eat something but also don’t want him to think that he can just have a snack instead of a meal whenever he likes. What are others doing in this situation please?x

I would keep my los meals of what can be saved and re offer later, if they refuse I just tell him this is the food being offered and that's all, at first he would throw a tantrum and I'd keep re offering n eventually he would eat it as he cottoned on if he's hungry it's all he'll be getting otherwise offer a banana or apple only before bed they soon learn if they're hungry they need to eat what's being given not just what they think they can demand for, they're expecting you to give in n give that snack and they will cotton on that even if you say no you'll givenin at some point n it won't help them eating proper meals so be strong stand your ground and it will get better in time 🥰

Yep!! Refusing breakfast cereal in the morning and demanding yoghurt. To be honest I just give the yoghurt as sometimes it opens up the appetite and then is more happy to eat some Weetabix plus it's a major teething and development month I guess they also like the power of choice 🫠

@Michelle we kind of do the same. So my little boy started refusing meals but wanted his snacks. So now i offer the meal and the “treats”/ bits i know he will eat like a biscuit at lunch or yogurt at breakfast. With his main part of the meal (but not dinner as for some reason he accepts his desert is after not sure why 😂) Since doing this he eats pretty much everything i serve him. Feel like with a “safe food” i know he will eat it then gives him enough encouragement to eat everything else. So for breakfast he will usually have toast/crumpet or porridge with yogurt and fruit. Then lunch he will usually have another portion of fruit/ something as his main and then either some crisps or a sweet treat. We have a divider plate from Asda and has worked really well for us x
