Quick and easy bottle making (formula)

Anyone got any good ways of making up bottles of formula for baby that doesnt mean boiling kettle and waiting for it to cool or using a prep machine?

I bought a kettle on Amazon where you can boil it to 100 degrees then set the temp to whatever you need which I usually do 73 degrees (NHS recommends 70 degrees minimum to kill bacteria) and it’ll stay that temperature all day and night… I either cool under cold tap or use nuby rapid cool flasks.

Hot shot method is probably the best, have a flask of hot water and some cooled boiled water. Depending on size of bottle you need put an oz or 2 in from the flask add the formula then put in the rest cooled boiled. Normally easier to have the cool water pre measured using another sterile bottle so you know how much you’re putting in. It’s basically what the prep machine does. Or I’ve seen people using the nuby rapid cool.

I always wondered why you adding cooled boiled water was never mentioned by midwife’s but it’s something that I thought always made sense! I might start doing this too especially for night feeds as only have 2 flasks, guessing half hot half cold would be perfect temp?

We use the Nuby rapid cool and it's a gamechanger for us

@Emily I have the nuby rapid cool set but I dont know how it works or if mine is broke, I know that sounds stupid but the light is just green all the time no matter what the temp of the milk/water is and seems to go cold not luke warm straight away not after 2mins x

@Charlotte the same happens with ours as we're only doing really small amounts. It actually cools it so quickly that it's cooled by the time we have the lid on and the button pressed so it may be why you never see the red light 😊

@Annabel might give it few more tried throughout the day today try get used to it .. really dont want to use prep machine anymore but its so much better than kettle and waiting when he is crying for milk 🥺

You can pre prepare the formula, cool in cold water then put in the fridge for upto 24 hours. Then pop in a jug of boiling water to warm up.

@Jazmine do you know this is 100% safe to do just because I was going to do this but sure I have heard you cannot heat back up again once cooled 😕 x

Nuby rapid cool is amazing for when you go out, other than that I have a water dispenser which keeps the water to whatever temperature I need it to be, both absolutely changed my life!

@Ewa what is the water dispenser you have x

Bellababy, it’s about £47 on Amazon I think. Well worth the money!

@Ewa Is it just like the tomme tippee prep machines? X

@Charlotte yes, HV said OK plus nhs does have these guidelines

@Charlotte im not sure as I’ve never used one 🤔. This just keeps water, you don’t add formula to the machine. I keep water in it above 70C and dispense into a bottle and then add formula, cool down in a jug of cold water and that’s it ;). It removes the need to boil the kettle and wait half hour
