Eating and drinking rules.

Hi all, This is my second pregnancy, I have a very healthy 2 year old. I'm trying to find out if anyone else thinks the eating and drinking guidence is just so over the top. Everything seems to be a risk and should be avoided because it 'may' contain something or other. I ate sushi throughout my last pregnancy, never washed any salad items and definitely ate soft cheese and crackers over Christmas. Currently eating smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel for breakfast. I feel like everything is a 'risk' but there's also a risk I could fall out the door but I'm not staying inside for 9 months. I've never ever known anyone that got food poisoning from eating cheese. đź«  Does anyone else have the same mindset? (Not talking about things that actually need avoiding like vitamin A, too much tinned tuna due to there actually being evidence of birth defects).

My mum said the only advise she was given was not to leave the milk bottles on the door step for too long as the birds may get to it and peck through the foil tops. I've turned out OK. 👍 I have also eaten smoked salmon and cured meats when I fancied them.

Yep, totally agree. I had a rare steak last week and it was delicious, I also don't pay a huge amount of attention to the caffeine rules either.

I have 3 friends that followed the food and drink avoidances to the T throughout their pregnancies, even monitoring the amount of chocolate they were eating due to the caffine, they all have kids with autism. It did make me wonder if it's just coincidence or if maybe linked to this in some way
