Preeclampsia

Anyone diagnosed with pre e? Very scary - I’ve been back to the hospital every day since Wednesday but they haven’t kept me overnight. They just keep re-drawing my labs, urine etc. Will be 35 weeks on Monday but wondering if they don’t keep me over the weekend what the protocol is for having pre e and not being kept at hospital. Anyone with experience and/or advice?? Thanking you in advance!

I would ask them what their plan is for the weekend if they aren't to admit you. I personally was admitted straight away and booked for an emergency c section but I was 36+1 at that point and my symptoms were severe. If they think your symptoms are manageable at home which based on them not admitting you I'd assume they feel they are which is good 😊 I imagine they will have you back in on Monday for another follow-up and if you don't have one already I'd order a blood pressure machine so you can test at home over the weekend.

What is your current blood pressure? Can you measure at home? Why can't you get checked on the weekends?

Hi Allison this happened to me, I got diagnosed pre e Xmas day and was admitted they started more meds & they worked, I was discharged 27th dec and visited hospital everyday for monitoring until my planned section date 3rd Jan 36 +5. They wanted to get me through to planned date as less staff over Xmas and twin 1 was measuring a bit small so wanted to cook as long as poss. It’s scary but the drugs can be very effective and your team will def make the right calls!

Same thing happened to me. Apparently there are different levels of preeclampsia. I went for a regular stress test at 33 weeks, and they sent me to the hospital. Then I went in for another appointment at 34 weeks and they sent me to the hospital again. The second time they had me stay overnight until my blood pressure stabilized. At 34 weeks and five days I went to my doctor again for a follow up and my blood pressure was high…they sent me to the hospital AGAIN. This time they said my blood pressure was consistently high and I was considered high risk preeclampsia. They kept me overnight and I had a c-section that morning because the babies had to come out. You should ask them what the plan is and should you start taking a low dose of high blood pressure medication. Looking back I wish I would’ve known more about preeclampsia and asked the doctors/nurses what the plan was.

I was already with cholestasis and UTI when diagnosed with pre e on 34+6. They kept me in the hospital as I also had pain in the belly that day and reduced movements of twins. On top, twin B was 5th percentile on thr last (32nd week) measurement suspected with fetal growth restriction. They told me they will deliver me next day before more things will be added to the list. They monitored me since my arrival (34+6) until the delivery (c-section) next day at 10pm (35+0).

To wrap it up, twin A was born with 2.5kg weight and twin B with 2.2kg weight, so no need of NICU and both healthy and with good weights for 35 weeks (75th and 26th percentile, I think). They were ready to go home after 2 days. But because of my blood pressure we had to stay in the hospital for a whole week post op.

I was admitted to the hospital since 34 + 4 and am still here waiting on the c section. I have gestational diabetes and pre e. I have to wear compression boots at night and they put me on heparin for blood clots. Babies are both over 5lbs but they keep telling me every day they are in my belly is equivalent of one week out of the NICU which doesn’t exactly seem to add up but I’m trying to cook these babies as long as I can. I’m just worried that they are going to push me to wait too long and something bad could happen to me. Thanks for all of the input ladies any more is greatly appreciated!!

The only thing they had to give me was steroid injection for their lungs to develop properly and that 24 hours before the c-section

Good luck Allison!! The longer you cook them inside of you the healthier your little ones will be.
