Feeding toddlers

My little boy is 18 months. He will feed himself his breakfast (usually porridge or Weetabix with banana) and any yoghurt that he has with lunch or dinner but unless it’s finger food he’s otherwise uninterested in feeding himself. So if it’s a hot meal I will spoon feed him myself and then he usually eats all or most of what he’s been given. To be honest he’s never been a big ‘foodie’ and it often feels like stopping to eat is just an inconvenience to him..! I sometimes just wonder if I’m the only one out there still spoon feeding their 18 month old..?

I still have to spoon feed my 18 month old unless it’s finger food, cereal or yoghurt I tend to help with as well. Beans/peas he will feed himself but by hand, he tries to use the spoon but hasn’t quite mastered it. He’s also not a massive foodie either though 🤦🏼‍♀️ x

I do both, spoon feed him but he is very independent but doesn't use spoon prefers using hands. I feed him yoghurts my ocd is so bad but I have learnt just go with the flow

I do & I don't, if my daughter gives me the spoon & is still hungry I'll feed her.

Thank you for your replies @Abbie @Pam and @Sarah🦄 Glad to know we’re not the only ones out there! Sounds like it’s not so unusual to have a bit of a hybrid going on. I also take comfort knowing that the food is getting in, irrespective of how it makes it there 😆

I thought I was the only one too lol

Mine won’t even let me come near him with a spoon so he does it all himself.

I also spoon feed soups as somewhere she uses spoons wrongly .. and sometimes she doesn’t want eat so I feed her

Spoon feeding as well, even yoghurt 😹😹

@Jasmine I can’t even imagine this right now!

It’s all practise. It’s messy at first but now he eats cleanly. Uses a fork too.
