Night feeds

Does anyone still do night feeds at all? FTM here, my baby wakes up once at night around 1 am, assuming he’s hungry, we give him a 4 oz bottle then he’s back to sleep until 6/7am. He has been eating less during the day so is it time to just drop the night feed? I don’t want him to be starving over night though.

How old is he?

And what time is his last feed?

Thought I posted in the August 2024 babies group. My bad, he’s 8 months in 2 days.

That's pretty normal. My son woke up around 3am until 7 months or so. Then he would start sleeping through and the 3am wake ups were maybe once a week or so. By 9 months he dropped it entirely. You could try dropping the oz to 3oz if you wanted to try and drop the night feed, but baby will probably drop it soon.

This is the august “24 group. Okay that’s not bad though he could just be hungry maybe a growth spurt? It happens my son will be 8m on the 28th and still feeds around that time or maybe 3am.

@Courtney thank you! @Gianna he has 6-7 oz around 6:30/7pm & is done & passed out for bed once he’s done.

Mine is 7 months and we have a night feed between 2-4am. I do a dreamfred at about 10p. And usually my son goes to bed between 7-730

My daughter still eats 3-6x a night. Bed between 7-8. Up at 10(only some nights), 12, 2, 4, 6ish then up up around 7. Last night she went to bed at 7:30 then woke up around midnight, then 2ish, 4ish and up at 6:30ish.

My baby still eats 3 times a night

EBF and still waking at least 3 feeds here

Yes it’s completely normal ☺️ follow your baby’s lead. Most children not start sleeping through the night until way into toddlerhood or even later.

100% totally normal. My first only woke up once a night at this age, my second wakes 3 times, even with optimized naps etc

Mine still wakes around 12-1am for a feed (breastfeed him to sleep ~6:30 and again overnight - formula bottle around 5). But he also seems to wake up after almost every sleep cycle too 😣

My son is still waking up 2-3 times a night to feed😞

Both my girls weirdly dropped their night feeds at 7 months. My first (who was combo fed) had a bottle at 3am which I slowly changed to completely water. Within a week she’d dropped the feed totally.

Is he eating solids at all? That may help. Now that we’re eating solids for breakfast, lunch, snacks & some dinner with bottles in between he doesn’t wake at all anymore. He was waking at 2-3 for a feed & right back to sleep before we increased BLW.

Maybe giving him more solids would help? Possibly, if he eats more during the day he would sleep more. My daughter is 8m and I give her breakfast and dinner solids, and a couple 7oz bottles in between. She eats every 3 hours and I also give her baby snacks in between those times. She sleeps from 8 pm through 4 am, and when she wakes up I take her to bed with me and she sleeps a couple more hours. She only has 2 naps during the day for an hour and a half or 2 hours at 10am and then again at 3pm. :) hope that helps!
