Circumcision

What's everyone's opinions on it at birth?? I didn't know it was a thing until I see someone post their birth plan! I didn't think it was done unless there was an issue or causing pain?!

Was the person posting definitely from England? It’s not routinely done at birth in the UK, it’s not something that’s done at all on the nhs (I don’t think) anyone wanting it done here has to go privately. My opinion on the whole thing is that it’s unnecessary and should only be done for medical reasons.

Yes I am from England, ohh okay thank you!! I wasn't sure as I said I only see it on someone's posts and also think it's mainly for medical reasons! Xx

No I meant was the person that posted from England. If they’re talking about having it done at birth I would guess they’re not. It’s very common in the US

Definitely should be done only for medical purposes as it’s unnecessary in my opinion and I’m from England too

yes we dont do that as routine here, id only get it done if it was medically necessary! xxx

It will not be performed at birth via NHS as it’s deemed as cosmetic and unnecessary (as it should) on a baby without medical need. If you want this procedure done on your baby, then you will need to find a private clinic and pay for it.

Thank you everyone! I don't want my baby to have it done was just out of curiosity x

I’m from England & having my lil boy in July and will be getting him circumcised asap x

@Yolanda can I ask why you're wanting him circumcised?

I had my son circumcised at 12 weeks old. It was performed by doctors who run their own private on a weekend. I only waited the 12 weeks because he was delivered at 35+2.
