Mine is almost 3 weeks. Was doing less than 5 mins in the next to me and now managing half hour to 2 hours at a time overnight. I only contact nap in the day. I started putting the muslin he's wrapped in in the day on top of the sheet so he has my scent in there and putting my hand on him or next to him for him to settle. He also falls asleep feeding on me and I wait another 20 mins or so after that until he's properly asleep to put him down. May also be worth looking at happycosleeper on instagram so you've got a safe alternative to get through the night ❤️
Some great suggestions already. My son was like this too, it's difficult. I read recently that the way you put your baby down can trigger their startle reflex so to try and put them down feet first and really lower them into the cot slowly. I hope he starts sleeping better for you soon ❤️
This is completely and totally biologically normal Try cosleeping
ugh, that sounds tough! have you tried swaddling him or maybe using a baby carrier during the day so he can nap while you're moving around? sometimes they just wanna feel close, ya know? this is what the 'Heal App' mentioned… hope it helps! "It sounds like you're navigating a challenging situation with your new baby, and it's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed. Since your baby seems to prefer being held, you might try using a baby carrier or wrap during the day to keep him close while allowing you to have your hands free. Additionally, consider swaddling him snugly, as this can provide comfort and security, mimicking the feeling of being held. You could also try placing a warm, soft object (like a blanket) in the bassinet for a few minutes before putting him down, as this can help create a familiar and cozy environment. Have you noticed any specific times when he seems more relaxed or any particular soothing techniques that work best for him?
@Nat I started waiting 20 minutes after a feed with him on my chest before transferring to cot and now he's sleeping 2hrs in the cot between feeds! I think it was a combo of he had some silent reflux and wanted comfort 😊
@Susan i use my baby wrap almost all day 😂 only way to chase a toddler and hold a newborn haha he is sleeping in his cot at night now for 2hr stretches 🙏 I started holding him up on my chest for 20 mins before setting him down. I think he was having some silent reflux?
I remember putting a hot water bottle in the crib to warm it up and rubbing one of old T-shirt on the crib sheet. Babies are really attracted to your scent.
