Is anybody else challenging their baby with formula ?

My baby had blood in her stool at 1 week old. She was then ‘diagnosed’ likely cows milk allergy as everything cleared up immediately after changing to Neocate. We were told around a month ago to reintroduce cows milk adding 1oz in the morning bottle only everyday for a week until they then have a full bottle. I finally worked up the courage to do this at 13 weeks old. I’ve done the whole week and she has now completed her first full bottle now of cows milk in that morning bottle and I’ve seen no obvious symptoms. Only symptom has been less poo, but she doesn’t seem uncomfortable/constipated and consistently hasn’t changed yet. Then a little grumpy yesterday evening when she wouldn’t usually be. Next step tomorrow is to change all bottles to cows milk formula! Has anybody else been through this and their baby continued to be fine or eventually reacted? I am still sceptical as one bottle is very different to 5 bottles. 1. I don’t want her to react at all as that would be brilliant! 2. After 14 days of full bottles if no reaction I believe the dietitian needs to know and I am worried she might react after 14 days but then she will have no prescription ect, so the difficulty in getting this back… Any advice or stories of others that have been through this process please!!

This is the standard way to test but it can take a week or 2 to show. I wouldn’t worry about issues with prescription, it should be sorted pretty quick if baby starts to react again. I haven’t been through it as my girls allergy was confirmed by poor weight gain on other formulas which only corrected once she went onto amino acid formula so I have to wait until she has been clear for 6 months before starting the milk ladder. It all sounds positive so far though so stick with it, lots of baby’s outgrow it really early and most others outgrow it by around 1 year

we did it, we did a week challenge then day 3 of normal cows milk he failed and we had to go back xx

If you are worrying and waiting for a script too my son didn’t react very well to neocate, I have loads of it as he’s on alfamino now, I can figure something out with you to get them to you if you need them x

@Molly what symptoms did he get and how old was he? Xx

@Aimee Rash, watery eyes, chesty clutch and diarrhea xx

My little guy was fine during the build up introduction but when we switched him over fully he started to react x

My baby isn’t old enough yet for reintroducing milk but some pharmacies don’t stock formula so have to order it in first. Mine doesn’t 🙄 so I’d be careful with that. If you have any milk left over before you start to transition, I’d keep it until you know if you need it or not
