Not eating…

So my little one has been in and off with his solid food for the last 2 months. Sometimes due to being ill or his vaccinations. But he started eating well again the last week or 2, back up to 3 meals a day and I realised I wasn’t leaving enough time between milk and meals (I now leave an hour, and try to give him food instead of milk if he’s hungry) The last few days he’s stopped eating his meals again, I try to leave him with his food for about 20 minutes, but he just isn’t eating it. We’re still on formula, because I feel changing to cows milk may means he’s not getting any nutrients seeing as he’s not eating much food. He’s a fussy eater too, it’s hard to get him to eat fruit/veg as well as things like meat and pasta. He seems to be particular about textures (hates anything slimed or wet like banana/cucumber/weetabix). I’m not sure what to do here. Do I put him on cows milk anyway, and hope that increases his food intake? I’m at a loss

My boy is the same. He eats very little, either throws it straight on the floor or takes a few bites then cries in his high chair and refuses to eat any more. He doesn't like new things, I think a lot of it is due to the texture. I'm currently mixing cows milk with his formula (about half and half) and he has a multivitamin in his water. He's gone off his milk recently too. I worry that he's not very healthy and he will go hungry but apparently they won't starve themselves. He has got some molars coming through so that might play a big part, I just hope he starts eating well soon.

This sounds exactly like my boy. He also still has around 4 7oz bottles a day, even when he was/does eat during the day in a good day (usually half of what I give him which isn’t a lot anyway). I’m worried to put him onto cows milk incase he doesn’t like it and then he’s not eating much at all, I don’t know what to do 🤷🏻‍♀️

You could try gradually mixing the cows milk with formula so he won't notice the taste difference as much. Maybe try dropping a bottle to see if it increases his food intake. As horrible as it is I think it might just be a phase they go through and we might just have to wait it out. Keep an eye on his weight to make sure he isn't losing weight.

I would put him on cows milk, he may be getting what he wants out of the formula mewing he won’t be interested in food. How many bottles is he getting? Maisie goes up and down with her food all the time never know what we doing. But she has vitamins in her morning milk 😌 He could also be teething. I find Maisie hates her usual things when teething which is rough 😂

AHHH hey girlie!! Yes I thought this because he knows he’ll get milk anyway. Which is also why I have left giving milk til last minute because I wasn’t leaving enough time between bottle and meals so he wasn’t hungry enough. He has an 8oz in the morning and then 2 7oz during the day and a 7oz before bed. Vitamins? Does she need them? What are the benefits, what kind of vitamins and do they work? Honestly who knows with him and his teeth, he’s always been a chewer and I won’t dare try to put my fingers near his mouth to check 🤣🤣 He has always hated any food that is wet or slimey, so it’s was rough from the start, I’ve managed to get new foods into him, but probably not much healthy well rice cakes aren’t the worst but there you go, not like it’s fruit or veg really is it 🥴🤣xxx

@Amanda I was thinking to do this, was just worried if he does lose weight, we have managed to drop a bottle recently from 5 to 4. He has his morning bottle, 2 during the day one between breakfast and lunch, the other between lunch and dinner. Then one before bed. I’m fine if it’s a phase, just don’t want it to be a forever thing 😅

@Jena my boy has 3 bottles (mid morning, afternoon and evening) but sometimes misses the afternoon one if we're out. Even though he doesn't eat much he hasn't lost weight, God knows how, it's like he's living off air! I give him breakfast before his milk, maybe try that if you don't already as he may be too full on milk.

@Amanda I’ll give that a go, don’t have much hope for the breakfast one though because he screams the house down in the morning for that first bottle 🙈😅

@Jodie WE HAVE SUCCESS WITH THE COWS MILK!! tried him just now with 3oz and he didn’t bat an eyelid, smashed it then screamed for more 🤣xxx
