Numbers and lack of information are definitely scary but if there's anything to worry about you get sent for further testing x
My Downs screening came in at 1 in 169 so your result is fine. My PAPP-A is low and hCG is on the higher end of average but NT measurement was only 1.9 which is a perfectly normal measurement. I’m 34.
When do you all get your results? I had my scan and blood taken a week ago and still nothing
@Dima they're supposed to give you the probability at the 12 week scan.
@Dima every hospital is different and will have different lead times. I had my scan Friday and got the results from the blood test yesterday (Tuesday) but my nhs trust are generally very quick. The NT measurement the sonographer measured and told us there and then.
@Charlotte my PAPP-A was blank not sure why. they took my bloods and measured baby’s neck. do i need to chase and ask for the PAPP-A? and i’m so sorry to hear that! i pray your rainbow baby is in your arms soon! xx
@Beccy my results came the same time as yours. but unsure why i didn’t see anything on the PAPP-A. but yes the sonographer told me there that she has no concern
It's a combination of the different factors, the dependent on your blood results and the Nuchal translucency combined. In pregnancies with Downs syndrome, PAPP-A tends to be low, and NT and hCG tend to be raised. However your numbers are really low for both. If it's a greater than 1:150 they refer you for NIPT, otherwise you're fine. My son had downs syndrome and I received a 1:2 probability (which is the highest they can give) and then NIPT came back high chance. So we knew he had it. Sadly he didn't make it to term, but that's another story.
