Feeding solids ?!

Ok I have an almost 9 month old (he was a premie about a month an a half early but hitting all his milestones) however I am having a very hard time with getting him interested in food. He will take a lick here or there but mainly if the puree isn’t in a bottle he won’t eat it. I’ve tried eating when we eat, multiple utensils, no utensils, spoon feeding, handing him the food … you get the point. Is there any advice ??

All you can do is keep offering it, they will get involved when they're ready. What do they do when there is food just left on the tray in front of them in the high chair? Play with it? Because that is good.

Keep trying. My 7 month old doesn’t like when I feed it to her but loves to “play” and feed herself if I just put it on the tray for her. She’s never been a big fan of the baby food - she likes the real stuff

My LB is 8mths and hated food all of a sudden for the past while.. now he's sort of taking an interest.. we offer a lot of finger foods and loosened his straps of the highchair so he can reach for things now!

@Emmo mainly plays with the plate and utensils rarely does anything find his mouth or face

@Lindsay we do both based on the doctors recommendation I have like sample sizes of everything we eat plus the puree and still nothing unless spoon feed we can get a couple of bites

@Shelby he can reach it and he’ll take like a chip or ice cream and dips or sauces but that’s about it

Thank you all for the encouragement ❤️

my daughter is about to turn one, and she JUST got to where she will eat UP TO two tablespoons or so of food, maybe twice a day. she just doesn't really have much interest in solid foods no matter what I serve or which way I serve it lol.

BLW instead of purées could help

Just keep offering whenever you eat and modelling how to eat nicely. Let him have the food on his tray with his utensils and if you want to load a spoon or whatever occasionally and offer it then yay if he eats it but even if he's just playing with the utensils or food it isn't really just playing, he's figuring it all out in his own way and getting a feel for how foods have different textures with his hands. Keep it stress free and just go with it. Some take longer than others but he will watch and learn from you even if it doesn't look like it currently

Is he teething. My baby wasn’t interested at first and barely eating but then her teeth grew and now she loves eating

At first she would cry during meals and not want to eat even before teething. And then she would refuse. Later she would just play with the food and then her teeth grew and she ate a lot

Keep trying. My girl was the same, until about 10 months. Now she's a great eater! Well, some days 😅
