Nursery or Childminder

I have to return to work in October and wondering if I should look for a childminder or nursery? I live in Bridgend County and drive so can travel for either. I mainly work from home and hoping to only go back 4 days a week. Does anyone have any suggestions of what they would do and also does anyone know potential costs? I have been burying my head in the sand and now wondering if I’ve left it way too late! My child would need to be looked after 8-6pm, 4 days a week. To be honest this terrifies me and I don’t have any family that can help.

Childminder is a lot cheaper than nursery. I went with nursery as it’ll help transition to school due to setting xx

I've gone with a nursery. I used to live in Bridgend and was a Flying Start Manager for the council and there are some great ones around! I now live in merthyr and our nursery is £65 a day but my work do offer childcare vouchers so it's slightly cheaper xx

And you get 20% tax free xx

I live in Bridgend and going back to work in October. My son will be going to nursery 8-6 on a Tuesday-Thursday. My husband works 4 days a week, and I’m putting in a request to go 4 days a week too so we will cover the other two days. For us it works out as £720 per month x

@Beth we are hoping to do similar with my husband also doing four days. Have you applied for a nylursery place yet. If so where?

Yes, he’s going to POW nursery because my husband works at the hospital. We also looked at busy bees on Broadlands (hated it) and bright beginnings in tythegston (loved it but wrong direction for me to get onto motorway for work) xx
