Chomping on hands

My baby is nearly 3 months and has recently found his hands but he’s chewing on them a lot.. I don’t know whether he’s maybe teething early or just chewing his hands because he’s found them? How do you tell please

Chewing on hands/fingers/toes is completely developmentally appropriate. Teething typically comes with irritability as well and you can usually see tooth bumps on the gums before they actually pop through!

hmm, it could just be that he's discovering his hands, but some babies do start teething around that age too, so maybe keep an eye out for other signs like drooling or fussiness? Just looked it up on the 'Heal App' and here’s what it says: "It's common for babies around this age to discover their hands and start exploring them by chewing. This behavior is often just a part of their development, as they learn about their bodies. However, if your baby is teething, you might notice additional signs such as increased drooling, fussiness, or swollen gums. To help soothe any discomfort, you can offer a teething toy or a clean, damp washcloth for him to chew on. If you're concerned about the amount of chewing or if he seems particularly uncomfortable, it might be worth observing for other teething signs. How has your baby been behaving overall-any signs of fussiness or discomfort?"
