I was told my first boy was going to be big, and he was born at 41 weeks and was only 7lb 3oz. My second pregnancy, baby was showing as 98th centile. At my 36-week scan, he was showing as 7lb 3oz which was a shock with my little boy weighing that at 41 weeks. They wanted me to have a scheduled c-section at 39 weeks as I had complications with my first birth, and they were worried that with him been bigger, I'd have even more complications. I opted to be induced at 38 weeks instead, as I really didn't want a c-section. He came at 38+2 weighing 8lb 2oz, he had nuchal hand, compound presentation which definitely didn't help. We should have known thiugh because he was always sat like that in his scans😂xx
My baby was 97th percentile... They said she was going to be 11lb at full term. I was induced 2weeks early and she was 8.3lb Xx
Thanks that has made me feel a bit better. We had a growth scan and they weren’t too concerned. Said they would check again at my 36 week scan x
i measured 4 weeks ahead pretty much from 20 weeks onwards, my baby was estimated 99th at 36 weeks, 9lb 1oz. he was born 97th at 8lb 8oz 38w1d. i was induced at 37+5 so id say he probably would have stayed in the full 40 if there weren’t other factors which made me induced xx
They predicted full term weight to be 4.1 kg (9 lb 93rd centile) he was born at 41+1 and was 4.4kg ( 98th centile). I went overdue and had to be induced which eventually led to a c section
I just want to jump on this myself as I’m 35 weeks and baby is currently measuring 2-3 weeks ahead of gestational age. C-section or induction are being offered but I’m personally keen to wait, especially when I keep hearing stories of how many of these babies are actually born at an average weight! So my question to those who did induce or c-section (with absolutely no judgement here) - were you happy that you made that choice?
@Chandler I was happy with it yeah purely because by the end I was so over being pregnant and all the pains 😂 but mine went quite smoothly, I had the hormone drip and don’t get me wrong its intense but I don’t know what a normal labour feels like with no drip so I had nothing to compare to. I I did tear but there was no stopping that unfortunately as he came out with his hands on his face🙃 x
@Chandler I went for induction. It was nice to sit in hospital and relax for a couple of days 🤣🤣
@Chandler I was very happy with my c section, but I didn't choose it just Because they told me baby was big, I had lots of other little factors that contributed to my decision.
@Charley do you mind if I ask if it was planned? I’ve heard good stories about the planned ones - that they were apparently very chilled ☺️
@Chandler yes it was planned, it was at 39 weeks exactly. I had polyhydramnios, an extra placenta, and it was an IVF pregnancy where they always want the baby out before 40 weeks anyway due to some increased risks Very very chill, a very positive experience.
@Charley it’s really nice to hear of a positive experience and I’m so glad it went well for you! Thank you for sharing ☺️ Hope you recovered well and all is going well with your little one too!
@Chandler yes recovery went well thank you, little boy is 6 months now and I've had no issues. I have a bit of an overhang and the scar took a little while to truly heal, but I also have EDS so my scarring can be a bit awry anyway!
Hi! I had this and got sent for a growth scan which said baby was measuring 8lb 4oz at 38 weeks and I also had low fluid so they booked me in for an induction the next day. If they’re concerned they will let you know and also the fundal height measurement isn’t 100% accurate. Even scans are out by like 24%, my little boy was born 7lb 9oz x
