FFN (fetal fibronectin) Positive Result?
Came into triage due to feeling faint and tightness around the belly (which I just thought were normal braxton hicks at 32 weeks).
They ended up running a bunch of tests, one of them being an FFN test. It came back positive, meaning there is a risk that baby could come early...her exact words were: "could be 2 days or could be full term- there's no way to tell..."
I shut down from there and the doctor had to come back to re-explain our options- which weren't many. Either do nothing and hope baby goes full term...or, because baby's lungs aren't fully formed, take 2 steroid injections to help them along- just incase baby does decide on an early jail release...we took the steroid option, but now I'm full of worry!
Has anyone experienced this before? Gotten a positive result and still made it a few more weeks or full term? Did you take the steroids, and if so, did it effect baby or you in any way? Was there a huge rush to get everything sorted now baby could've come at any minute? And what are you doing/did you do to keep stress levels down- because mine are through the roof!
Oh very not been in your situation but I’ve had the steroid injection I thought it was bloody awful they had to pin me down. They want me to have it this time too as I’ll be having baby around 37 weeks , wishing you all the best x
