Sleep!

I want to shout it from the rooftops… baby boy (6 and a half weeks old) pretty much slept thru the night last night! Slept in his bassinet from 10:30-2:30 (longest stretch there) and then slept with me in my bed (no judgement please) from 2:30-6! 7 and a half hours total!! I feel like a new woman this morning!

Literally splitting it with his bassinet and the bed is the way to go sometimes 🥲 He won’t let me sleep otherwise. Congratulations on the sleep! 🙏🏼🖤

@Jess we’ve been sleeping that way pretty much every night since we came home from the hospital. We weren’t planning on co-sleeping and then it happened by accident on like our third night home, and it’s truly the only way we get any sleep.

Congrats!!! That’s amazing!!! How do you co sleep? Would like to try that out…

We just got a 7.5 hour stretch for the first time tonight too! Amazing

I went to the er with my son one night because he needed oxygen (Colorado altitude) and the doctor on duty that night took the time to come in my room and beg me randomly not to co sleep because she “sees horrible accidents every week”. I swore I would never. I was so against it. But like you said, it happened by accident and now I’ll get three extra hours of sleep because of it.

@Tatiana I honestly wait until my husband leaves for work and that’s usually when my son wakes up and gets fussy. But because I have the whole bed to myself I will take off my extra pillows and blankets and give him that whole side of the bed. I put my face next to him and make a C shape around him and we both sleep for hours. I’ve also heard of something called the safe sleep 7. You can always look that up too.

@Tatiana usually he just sleeps right on my chest, like a contact nap. I’ve become a very light sleeper and I can feel him breathing. But we also have an owlet sock that would alert me if baby boy’s oxygen or heart rate tanked below an unsafe threshold. I also shove the comforter down around my waist too so it’s not near his face. But my boy likes to be warm and sleeps better when he’s got a blanket of some sort. @Jess we’ll sleep that way on the couch for like midday naps, with him on the inside of the chaise and me on the outside, curled around him. But in the middle of the night he goes right on my chest.

Congrats! 😇 Isn’t it the best feeling? Haha 6 weeks was also when my son started sleeping through the night! And just wait it continues to get better! He is now almost 8 weeks and sleeps in his bassinet from 8:30pm-7am 😊 Sometimes he’ll have a 10 min wake up around 2:30 but then goes right back down in the bassinet! My 2 year old sleeps 7:30pm-7:30am so that’s the schedule we’ll get baby on in the coming months 🙌🏻
