What to do about peeing though diapers at night?

My son is dropping his nap and sleeping through the night - except that he keeps being woken up by being wet and peeing through his diaper. He wears a night time diaper and I put it on him right before he goes to sleep - I’m just not sure what my options are. The only thing I can think of is limiting fluids before bedtime but that just feels wrong to tell him like no more water before bed? That doesn’t feel right to me. But I’m not sure what else to try .. Oh and I think he’s in the biggest size of the night time diaper brand we use - if there’s one that works well for you let me know. We are in Canada btw

I always hear about boys doing this. Is this a boy thing??

My boy definitely does this. Before I start on advice, is he potty trained other than night

@Asia 100%

Ok so my son did this for awhile. We changed a couple things. 1 size larger for nighttime diapers, half bottle at goodnight so it just runs out when he is done, after dinner we let him play for about 15-20 min before bath then bed (try to work out some last pee), but you can also order “sposi” diaper liners to help absorb extra pee. Oh and also making sure his little penis is pointed downward in diaper. Not sure which one was the “cure” but he doesn’t overflow at night anymore.

We don’t do any liquids an hour before bedtime, grew up that way to. It’s not a punishment.

We use the huggies brand nighttime diapers and they work I'd say a majority of the time. There have been a few leaking incidents but rarely. My son has water in his crib with him at night so we aren't limiting anything.

@Annie he is not

Size up in vests and sleepsuits x

My daughter always had this issue and leaked out of the top. We tucked the front part under like you do when they have their unbiblical cord. Helped her a lot

Okay if he's not potty trained I would say night time diapers with a cloth diaper cover over top. The covers aren't super expensive and they're just plastic

I would wake him up to go potty in the middle of the night and change him if he had an accident. At least until he gets used to it and he should start just going on his own, my friends boy just goes but my son calls for me to go and I take him in there help him up (he walks like Bambi in the middle of the night there is no way he is climbing up a step stool solo lol) and send him back on his way. He's almost 3 but has been like this since he was like 2 years and a couple of months. It's just getting them used to it. Good luck accidents at night are the worst!
