IUD contraception

Just wondering if anyone can offer their experience with the copper IUD after pregnancy or just in general? I’m 8 months pp and considering getting it but I’m 50/50 cause I have heard a lot of mixed stories.

I've been on the copper IUD for about ... 2 or 3 years? It's rough at first because of the increased blood flow on your cycle and sometimes premenstrual cramps increase, but in my experience it settles down after a few months. I like it because I didn't want hormonal birth control to mess with me while going through postpartum and it's a good option if vasectomy isn't in the cards.

I just took mine out Friday I kept getting up on some bad pain in my legs and lumps on my breast that scared me I gained 20 pounds and I was only on it for eight months. I would say try it, but you will know if your body reject it so give it a few months and if you have some issues, take it out everyone may not have the same symptoms as me. Or others just try it I know plenty of people that’s on it and don’t have any issues, but I was just one of the few that did.

It truly depends on the person. If you have heavy periods I would suggest against it. Your periods can and usually do get heavier on it. My periods were always the heavier side of normal and my copper IUD expelled itself on my period after I had it 8 months. It’s rare for an IUD to expel itself. I was against using a hormonal IUD because no other hormonal BC options agreed with me, but I’ve had mirena for 2 months so far and it’s been fine. Spotted constantly for the first month but spotting is normal the first 3-6 months.
