need bloods done after 12 week scan

i’ve just had my 12 week scan this afternoon (measuring 13+3) for my DCDA twinnies. the sonographer was unable to measure nuchal translucency for twin 1 due to their position (constantly rolling onto belly and side - it was actually really cute!), so i’ve to go back for bloods in about 2 weeks. just wondering if anyone has had similar experience? she didn’t say what kind of blood test, i assume it’s NIPT? cheers!

It will be a quad test. They will generally only offer NIPT of that comes back high risk. The quad test only screens the risk for downs and they look at other markers (heart etc) for markers of Edwards and pataus on the 20 weeks scan

@Ceri-Ann thank you! she did say my babies didn’t have any currently visible features of edward’s or patau’s today but down’s may not be as obvious at this stage. so makes a lot of sense - thanks again

I had to have this done too, I had my 12 week scan repeated because they couldn't do the NT measurement, and they still couldn't get it second time so I had blood tests instead which were normal. I also had to have my 20 week scan done 3 times because they wouldn't co-operate, pesky twins!

@Eilidh it’s quite a stressful thing eh! going in expecting to be reassured and i’ve came out needing more tests was it the quad blood test you got? my twin 1 is quite obscured by twin 2 so i’m straight to bloods rather than rescan
