At 18 months old. I’d do it again at 12 months but not younger than that. Don’t forget to childproof EVERYTHING- electrical outlets, furniture, add baby gate if necessary etc
2 we moved our oldest to a toddler bed
We transitioned earlier than we wanted to as my daughter is extremely tall. When she was almost 2 she tried to climb into her crib and almost fell in before I got to her. That was when we took the side off and transitioned it to a toddler bed. She can easily climb in and out of the bed and the railing stops her from rolling out at night. I would have left her in the crib for as long as possible though. Once they can climb out it is an adjustment because they will want to get out in the middle of the night. You have to also remove anything from the room that would be unsafe if they played with unsupervised. And make sure to anchor any furniture that stays.
We switched at 22 months but I wish we would have switched closer to 18 months
My son was in a cot till about 15-16 months old and then moved him into a toddler bed and was best decision as he sleeps a lot better
18 months our daughter moved from bedsharing in our room to a floor bed in her room. It was an easy, smooth transition. We waited till she was ready
Both my kids decided around 14 months that they wanted to sleep in the “big kid bed” and wouldn’t go back to the crib even with the side off. So I just ran with it.
We only moved our son because he climbed out and fell and he is 3 and half he was so happy in his cot and slept like a dream but he absolutely loves his toddler bed and still sleeps like a dream and he loves he can climb in and out we will get him a proper bed soon but for the moment he still loves his toddler bed
A couple of months ago & he is nearly 3
