Speech

My lb is 2 next week and still barely any speech it’s becoming very concerning he can understand us he copies actions that people do like at the music group he goes to he copies the teacher with certain moves he will go get his shoes when asked etc but he just won’t talk ! He says muma and dada and nana but not often enough I would say we had yeah or yay this morning but should I be worried is he ok what would be next steps I spoke to health visitor and they sent through things to try and help which I’m doing and I feel like he can hear as he looks when I call his name and he looks in direction of sounds so don’t think he would have glue ear ?

My little one is nearly 2 years he can’t talk yet he says mama and dada and nanna and grandad and yeah but apart from that xxx

Are you concerned about it at all ?? X

Yeah it does worry me but I’ve got health visitor due soon so I’m gunna tell her xx

Ask for a referral for a hearing check. My little one is the same and it’s turned out the issue is glue ear and we are waiting for grommets but will have a hearing aid in the meantime

@Delilah thank you can your little one hear other things though like his name and other sounds cos my lb can which makes me think not glue ear but no idea 🤷‍♀️ x

He can on occasions, it really depends for as if there is a lot going on in the same room then no. But if the room is quiet then yes

@Delilah can I ask how long you’ve been waiting for the grommet surgery? X

Only 2 months but the list is 12 month wait

Hiya, just had our audiology test not expecting anything to come back from it as he says the same words yours does and responds to his name and sounds etc but it turns out he does have glue ear in both ears! They’re going to wait till he’s 2 and then get him on the list for grommits if it hasn’t cleared up so definitely worth going, I feel really bad I didn’t realise he had a bit of hearing loss, it was only the low frequencies he didn’t respond to, talking level etc was fine!
