Definitely get some lactulose it will soften everything and make it easier and less painful to go when you do go. Sorry, you're going through this 😫
There are round cushions u can bu off amazon with a hole in the middle so your bum fits in the middle
I used a little step stool to put my feet on, it angles your body to make it more comfortable, also pure apple juice worked wonders for me to get things moving x
I’m 2.5 weeks PP after an episiotomy, forceps and a third degree tear (then haemorrhoids) and recovery has been so painful so I hear ya! My MIL bought me this cushion and although not perfect, it’s been a game changer for me and I’ve been taking it everywhere! https://amzn.eu/d/eDWziUJ Good luck with recovery, it will get better but it’s a slow process! I was bed bound for 2 weeks but I’m getting there.
We got lactalose from the pharmacy it was honestly a god send I don’t know why nobody tells you about it. You can use it through pregnancy and after. It doesn’t give you diarrhoea it’s just a stool softener! It’s bloody brilliant it tastes like syrup xx
You need to drink water 24/7 I didn’t and I was massively constipated. I had the lactulose but that only works if you’re hydrated enough and you need to drink a lot more than you normally would. I wasn’t too bad, but I’ve got a breastfeeding cushion and I would sit on that which took the pressure off my lower region
Thanks all. I managed to go this morning 🥳 It’s offered some relief but I’m still very sore which will be the stitches and swelling I assume
@Kate Thank you, I might order that. I’ve been up and about but getting up and down after a long time sat can be excruciatingly painful 🙈
I didn’t have an assisted delivery, but I did feel quite sore from my natural birth. Using a donut pillow made a huge difference and helped a lot with sitting comfortably. I’d also recommend using an extra pillow behind your back to help you sit up straighter and stay supported. For constipation, I highly suggest using a stool softener it’s available in tablet, liquid, or powder form. A heating pad was another lifesaver for me, especially during the afterbirth contractions, which I mostly felt in my lower back and bum. They felt like sharp, shooting pains, and the heat really helped soothe them.
As for your toilet routine, here’s what worked best for me: after using the bathroom, I would clean myself with a peri bottle, then either put on an adult diaper or use a heavy flow pad. On top of that, I would add a Frida Mom witch hazel pad liner and spray on the witch hazel healing foam it gave the most amazing cooling sensation. Finally, I would use The Expert Midwife Spritz for Bits spray, which contains tea tree and witch hazel to numb and help with healing. I hope that helps! X
I had this and ended up in A&E. Was told I just had to wait it out, but some Pilates or yoga can help! ended up feeding standing up and only sleeping on one side. I found sitting on the feeding pillow helped rather than the coccyx cushion which I found was still too hard!
