Child disability… & then carers(extra UC payment for carers)

If you’re child recently got accepted for the child disability payment which my little one did he is the highest one and then I got a message from Universal credit saying I could be entitled to extra UC payment for carers, would you take it?? I got this and I almost feel like it’s “cheating the system” so to speak as of course I’m his carer anyway he’s my child??? 🤣 I don’t know how to feel on this. I don’t work either fyi as I have two children youngest being a baby. What would you do??

Just a little fyi, if you already receive UC and then get carer allowance on top, UC will minus the amount you get from carer allowance from your UC payment x

@Lailuma ooooh interesting as I'd be inclined to accept 🤣🤣🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ but if you don't ask you don't know.... I'm already capped having 2 kids that hurts already lol x

People underestimate the amount of time that children with some conditions need. This hits a family financially and emotionally. By all means claim it and make the best use of it.

You get carers element of UC and disabled child element too. If lo gers high rate Care then it's £400ish disabled child element and around £130ish carers element.

@𝔾𝕚𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕖 this right here, a good friend of mine has a severely disabled son and just pushing a wheelchair along for 20minutes was a challenge for me, which is a fraction of what she does each day!!
