Screen time

I feel like a terrible mum. My 14 month old is obsessed with Tv. She will only eat or have her nappy change with screen time; tv or phone. It’s getting to a point where she’s constantly on screen time. I don’t know how to reduce it. If I do, she makes other family members give her screen time - that’s how she got use to it in the beginning. My father is addicted to the tv and she learnt this behaviour from him I’m guessing. I think screen time build up at the A&E, when my daughter was ill the paediatric gave her screen and she loved it!!! I thought paediatric doctor should know better about the risks.

My 17 months is obsessed so we spend more time out or in kitchen etc but at some point I have to say no and hide the remote then distract him with toys or other things

You have to start reducing it, she doesn’t know any different. Distract her, set boundaries and she will eventually get use to not having it. I try to play upstairs a lot with my daughter, away from the tv or we get out the house often. Can you eat away from the tv in a different room? X

Maybe try a tonies box or similar. Getting out the house more helps too as they’re too occupied to miss it.
